You made this your own. As this is a WIP, I hope you don't mind me saying that I'd love to hear the vocal just a tad louder in the mix. Other than that, this was refreshing to listen too.

Just a few points:
1. I just so your voice!
2. The jazzy twist on this is perfect; it makes it a completely different song than the original.
3. NoRentJoseph stole my comment-- you made it your own, and in a graceful, beautiful fashion.
4. I am speechless...

WOW!!! Explossively Powerful Mix!
Love the brass & electric piano - great jazzy twist.
Powerful bass & just sits right in the mix.
Now for the best part - your vocals!
This is a wonderful, mellow, jazzy, vibe & you are just such a natural at jamming with the music - incredible!
Nice jam at the end with the electric piano & percussion.
Superb cover version - you made it your own... exactly the way I like covers to be done!

Thanks in large part to my abysmally slow internet service, I usually stay away from both cover tunes (Interpretation is often tremendously creative, but I find “from scratch” much more intriguing) and works in progress here at DM...I mean, this track, for instance, took just over two hours to snag...but hey, this IS our Perkie, after all, so I knew it wasn’t going to be a “cookie cutter” cover song.
To my way of thinking, setting out to get as close to the original as possible is more insult than tribute to the writer or writers, especially when we’re talking about covering anyone with a reputation for innovation.
And a big part of successfully making a cover one’s own is knowing oneself. That’s where this REALLY hits the mark. Perkie’s dulcet tones and silky delivery would’ve been pleasant enough delivering Macca’s vocal melody over a sparse, direct-sounding piano, but this goes well, well beyond that.
It’s tough, sometimes, I think, to really identify our own style, being so closely vested to our creations. This is an awfully good example of recognizing aspects of one’s own style (that coquettish, Billy-Holliday-dialed-back-just-a-bit vibe, for example) and applying them in a way that doesn’t sound forced or even contrived.
So, I guess this is going to become the second DMusic cover track I put on a (personal use only) mix CD.

Wow I can't believe I have taken to darn long to listen here. I guess having little access to the net is my only excuse. This is a fantastic interpretation of a classic made into the classic style of Perkie! You made the longing for lost love also feel a longing for the sensual love that was shared. You would have the sexiest voice on D Music apart from my own of course...he he he.
